Since 1998, Whistle Stop Café has been a beloved local gem in Boone, Iowa—serving up hearty, homemade breakfast and lunch with a side of small-town charm. We’re a family-owned and operated diner, proud to dish out comfort food classics from the same cozy spot we started in.

We’re open bright and early from 6:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and yes—breakfast and lunch are served all day long. Whether you're craving pancakes at noon or a burger at sunrise, we've got you covered.

Planning a party, meeting, or special event? We offer off-site catering for groups of nearly any size and occasion. Just say the word, and we’ll bring the flavor to you.

Why “Whistle Stop”? Our name is a nod to Boone’s rich railroad heritage—home to the Union Pacific Railroad and the Boone Scenic Valley Railroad. Nestled in central Iowa, Boone is just 15 minutes west of Ames (Go Cyclones!) and 40 minutes north of Des Moines, making us a perfect pit stop for locals and travelers alike.
